PRODUCT · WHO, WHAT, WHY

Keep the round moving together.

A friendly, privacy-conscious golf scorecard that shares lightweight round status with nearby players over Bluetooth.

Users

Friends playing a golf round together, usually outdoors in changing light and often operating the phone with one hand. They want to keep score quickly, see their nearby group’s progress, and avoid account setup or a distracting group chat.

Purpose

Fast, trustworthy score entry during play. Course selection, saved rounds, group invites, and future social features broaden the product without turning the live round into a feed.

Personality

Joyful

Colorful and expressive, celebrating good company more than perfect play.

Companionable

Friendly language and nearby presence without social pressure.

Adventurous

Fresh air, Icelandic scenery, and a sense of shared motion.

Design principles

  1. Keep the round moving. Scoring and the current hole win the hierarchy.
  2. Make friendship visible. Nearby states feel social without blocking the task.
  3. Use delight at the edges. Expressive art belongs in identity, empty states, and milestones.
  4. Stay course-neutral. Course data is content, not the product identity.
  5. Be private by default. Explain sharing plainly and accurately.

Anti-references

No generic enterprise dashboard, default Material purple, country-club beige, childish golf-ball mascot, ASCII-like symbols, or UI that implies MeshGolf supports only one course.

Accessibility

WCAG AA contrast, 48 dp touch targets, system light/dark themes, English and Icelandic, scalable text, useful image descriptions, and states that do not depend on color alone.
